Tou Meng Lee Artist Statement

Do you like taking pictures? Well if you do then maybe you should take a little bit of your time to read this. So I can tell you a little bit about it. Taking pictures is a very fun and best of all, it’s also an easy thing to do. Even, a two years old could do it.
I’ve been taking pictures for almost a year now. I’m not that experience but I know somewhat about photography. It’s really fun and exciting when you get into to it. Especially when you adjust your photos in photoshop. You can crop it, color it, you can do almost anything with it. I really enjoy taking images and adjusting it on photoshop. You can desaturate your photo and use high or low contrast to make it stand out or even desaturate some parts and leave an odject so that it’ll make that odject satnd out even more.
Some photos can be meaningful if you take time with it can try your best to get a perfect shot. Some, even without trying can also get a perfect shot. For example, just taking pictures of an unusual thing you see in the street or somewhere you are. I’ve been taking pictures or people moving, running and their gestures. I get them a lot in the street. In which we call street photography.
We take photos from the street and bring it to photoshop to work with it. Such as painting it or sponging it, to make the color and everything more interesting. Many times people will take pictures of their friends, which we call snap shot. Those pictures aren’t interesting, unless you shoot it from a different angle, such as from the sides, top to bottom, or bottom to top. These pictures is more interesting because they’re different from regular snap shots and which not many people which take these kinds of photos.
When taking a photo you have to decide if the lighting is good so that your pictures will look better when you push the shutter. Another thing is that you have to frame your picture so that you don’t get so much of the things that you don’t want in your picture. For me, when I take a picture I like to frame the main object of the reason why I’m taking that image and make it so that it’ll stand out the viewers.
I like Man Ray’s works because he take photos that are interesting and unusual to the everyday life. He takes pictures that is not really common and pictures that other photographers don’t have. I like to take my pictures in somewhat his kind of ways but only with colors.
